As a walkable community we want to create a walking environment that is safe, provides ease and supports all levels of mobility. The work of Fulton Footpaths and the addition of the new multi-use trail is an example of the efforts to support a pedestrian friendly, walkable community.
To create safer more accessible walkways, we must not let years of not doing stop us from moving forward with doing the right thing.
We understand that the 481 corridor has been an issue for some time and has not been addressed over the years. We have listened to the concerns and are taking action. Starting in 2021 and moving forward, we are implementing a plan on snow removal along 481 so that pedestrians have a safe place to walk both north and south bound. Coupled with the recent work along Hannibal St to slow traffic and enforce weight limits we are making progress.
As we move forward we will work to perfect the process and continually find ways to improve the outcome. We will also evaluate other areas and work to deliver similar results.
